    Almost 13 million workers or 25 percent of the workforce were unemployed when FDR was inaugurated. Farmers were overproducing milk which caused prices drop so low that the couldn't make their money back. His administration developed a strategy w/2 central elements: spreading the available work among larger numbers of employees & increase the purchasing power of the people.
    I chose this because it shows how we can change a situation from bad to better which I apply to my life.
  • The Act

    The official act was put in law on June 16 1933 to regulate industry in an attempt to raise prices after severe drops and stimulate economic recovery. It also established public works administrations. The (NRA) portion was widely licked in 1933, but by 1934 business' opinion of the act had changed.
  • Schechter Poultry Corp. v. United States

    The "Live Poultry Code" was approved by the President on April 13, 1934. Its divisions indicate its nature and scope. The Code has eight articles entitled purposes, definitions, hours, wages, general labor provisions, administration, trade practice provisions, and general.
  • Hugh S. Johnson

    General Hugh S. Johnson was the first head of the NRA. He designed the poster seen advertised by businesses everywhere. Also known as propaganda.
  • Baby Face Nelson

    Nelson graduated to adult prison in 1931 after robbing a bank in Chicago. Sentenced to a year in jail, he escaped from custody while being transported to be tried on another bank robbery charge in February 1932. Nelson eventually wound up in Sausalito, California where he met John Paul Chase. The pair engaged in numerous criminal activities over the next few years.
