    The Middle Passage is a slave ship that brought 10-12 million people to work as slaves. 1500-1750 it occured. 15% of people died on the slave ships.

    Almost 300,000 Africans had done labor throughout Spanish America on plantations and in gold and silver mines. Brasil had dominated the European sugar market in the 1700's. But as the colonies sugar industry grew, the demand for cheap labor grew as well.

    Planters in Virginia imported 1000s of slaves. 20% of the population was 20% African ancestry. By 1750, slaves made up 40% of the population.

    The Stono Rebellion was the largest slave uprising. Slaves made up 61% of the population. Slaves were promised freedom if they fled their british owners.

    British troops put this act in tact. This taxed a lot of different things. Which were, glass, lead, paint, and tea which was imported into the colonies from Britian.

    British troops into an angry crowd. Which killed 5 bostonians. one of them being a black salior named Crispus Attucks. He was a man who had taken the lead in accosting the soldiers. He also became martyr to the Patriot cause.

    It was drafted by a slaveholder, Thomas Jefferson. It was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. Although he wrote all men were created equal he didn't support the rights for black freedom.
