    Adidas was founded by Adolf Dassler on August 18th, 1949 in Herzogenaurach, Germany. He made sports shoes in his mother's laundry room after coming home from World War One.

    Adidas Shoes Shapes the 1954 Wold Cup
    The German national soccer team faced Hungary in the World Cup in 1954. The new, lightweight, cleat with screw in spikes helped the Germans beat the undefeated Hungarians and allowed Adidas to be on the world stage.

    A German soccer legend, Franz Beckenbauer, debuted the Adidas tracksuit causing it to be known across Germany and the world. It became one of the most iconic pieces of sports clothing to ever be made.

    During the early years of Adidas, they focused on soccer, however as the company continued to grow they started to change their focus. Athletes such as gymnast Nadia Comaneci, started to wear their products during competition and it enhanced their performance. She was the first woman to score a perfect 10 in the Olympic games.

    Adolf Dassler passed away in 1978, and after his son, Horst, and his wife Kathe took over the company.

    The Micropacer shoe had a computer to show the athletes statistics and showed that Adidas was all for athlete performance and improvement. It was created special for the Olympic Games held in Los Angeles.

    The Leader of Adidas is Questionable
    Kathe Dassler passed away in 1985, and Horst in 1987, Adolf Dassler's daughters took over the company. The daughters sold off their part of the company and the leadership of Adidas was unknown, but it was the end of the Dassler era.

    Robert Louis-Dreyfus became the new CEO of Adidas and changes were about to happen. Adidas was almost bankrupt and he needed to do something to change it. He eventually led the company to become a corporation.

    In 2006, Adidas bought Reebok which allowed two of the biggest sports companies coming together to achieve world dominance.

    Launched in 2011, Adidas was now promoting that Adidas has sports apparel, shoes and accessories for multiple different sports. With celebrities such as Katy Perry and David Beckham, the campaign went well.
