In this election the two men running for president were John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. In this election John Adams's running mates were Charles Cotesworth Pinckney and John Jay and Thomas's running mate was Aaron Burr. Thomas and Aaron ended up in a tie vote. The election was thrown into the House of representatives and in the end Thomas Jefferson won the election. -
