  • WTC Bombings

    A member of Al Qaeda left a truck bomb under the North Tower. This killed 6 people and left 1,042 injured. The attack was planned by terrorist Ramzi Yousef, Mahmud Abouhamila, and Mohammad Salaamed. On Friday February 26, 1993, Ramsi Yousef and Eyad Ismail drove a yellow Ryder van through lower Manhattan into the parking garage under the North Tower. Twelve minutes later, the bomb blew with 130,00 psi creating a 98 foot hole in the parking garage.

    Al Qaeda recruit Zacarias Moussaoui has just arrived in Eagan, Minnesota, where he has moved to attend flight training school. He learns on a simulator but raises suspicions when he tell the instructor that he doesn't care or want to learn how to land.

    The Hijack leader Mohamed Atta and two others go to Las Vegas for a planning session for the days to come. Also, Marwan al-Shehhi bought 2 black 4 inch knives from a Sports Authority store in Florida which were allowed on board according the the FAA. The men leave Las Vegas the next day.

    FBI agents start an investigation into Zacarias Moussaoui after his flight school instructors report concerns that he could possibly be a terrorist. Also, CIA counter-terrorism chief Cofer Black tells the Defense Department convention that, "We are going to be struck soon, many Americans are going to die, and it could be in the U.S."

    The crew of hijackers who will eventually take control of American Airlines flight 77 and crash it into the Pentagon check in at the Valencia Motel in Laurel, Maryland, a few miles from the headquarters of the NSA. The next day, Ziad Jarrah completes a "check ride," a test of his piloting skills, with a flight instructor at Airborne Systems Flight School in Ft. Lauderdale.

    United Airlines flight 93 hijacker Ahmed al-Haznawi reserves his ticket for September 11 which he bought for on Travelocity.com, while brothers Hamza and Ahmed al-Ghamdi reserve their tickets for United flight 175.

    Hijacker Ziad Jarrah books his ticket for United Airlines flight 93. He also attends kickboxing and street-fighting classes at a gym in Hollywood, Florida -- skills he will later use to storm the flight's cockpit.

    Mohamed Atta flies from Baltimore to Boston, where he meets up with United Airlines flight 175 hijacker Marwan al-Shehhi. The two men spend the night at the Milner Hotel in downtown Boston getting closer to the target. Very early in the morning Ziad Jarrah got pulled over going 90 mph hour.

    Mohamed Atta, likely trying to stagger the hijackers' arrival to Boston's Logan Airport on the day of the attacks, makes a last-minute decision to drive to Portland, Maine with Abdulaziz al-Omari, where they will catch a connecting flight to Boston at 6 a.m. on September 11. The men are captured on camera in a Pizza Hut before 9/11.

Everyone knows the story of the planes taking out both towers and the loss of 3,500 plus innocent american lives. Everyone will remember this day and the loved ones who died.
