    Bill did not have very good days in school from this estimating date to 1967 the other children have always bullied him. Bill was really good at math and computers but not much else. The other children considered him to be a nerd before the term even existed. It's amazing how someone who was teased can become so sucessful.

    Gates had a precocious intellect he read the family's encyclopedia from begining to end. This was the inspiration that Microsoft would later publish the first CD-ROM encyclopedia in the world called Encarta.

    Bill's Parent send him to a private school to help straighten him out after all of the trouble that he caused during his childhood.

  • Begining inspiration

    Bill discovers his interest in computer software at age 13. He learned how to use the ASR-33 Teletype and BASIC Beginner's All-Perpose Symbolic Instruction Code. In his math class.

    Bill and Kent had ideas for new computer programs. They wrote a letter to ISI to help them come up with a project and on this date the company came to an agreement to do a payroll program exchange.

    Bill Gates andPaul Allen had an idea on how to build a computer. Using an8008 microprocessicer chip Bill had created a traffic counting computer called the Traft-O-Data. This computer would continue its quest to build the dream car-counting machine. They also had some help from Paul Gilbert.

    Bill gates drops out of Harvard and started his bussiness with his long time childhood friend Paul Allen. Bill gates also becomes the head chairman of Microsoft.

    Bill Gates offers IBM his first computer project DOS (Disk Operating System).

    I don't know the exact day and year but this is very important. Bill and Paul have made a program for BASIC that allows it to interact and respond to whatever is typed in. For example PRINT 2+2 and the system repondse is 4.

    Nearly every rival of Microsoft was releasing their own version of BASIC. Apple BASIC is one example.

  • Relocation

    Microsoft company will be relocated from New Mexico to Washington. Bill was very happy to hear the news that he will be moving back to his home town.

    The first customer Nishi brought through the doors had been Kazuya "Ted" Watanabe from the Nippon Electric Company NEC. Bill and Allen also take a two week bussiness trip to Japan later that mounth. They both work with Nishi to try and release ideas for the NEC PC-8001 featuring Microsoft BASIC in ROM.

    Jack Sams and IBM Contracts Administrator Pat Harrington arrive at the Microsoft office and were intorduced to Bill Gates himself. Steve Ballmer joined in later. Microsoft wanted IBM to sign a two-page agreement between the two companies. The meeting was also to discuss the matter of an exparimental project that involves both 8-bit and 16-bit program or word processing.

    Bill Gates Steve Jobs and Jef Raskin met each other in person on this date. All three of them were talking about two key issues that were emerging. Which applications should be developed for the Mac, and should they be bundled-included free- with every machine? The PC universe was changing users cared more about applications than language.     Microsoft finally released its new DOS program after many years of delay with the help of IBM. Bill Gates was very pleased.
