  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris issued on October, Seventh 1763, marked the win of Great Britain against France.The Treaty of Paris issued in the colonies, told the colonist that they would need to pay back Britain for the dept they are in because of the war. The Treaty of Paris also established four new colonies and closed off the frontier from expansion.
  • Sugar act

    Sugar act
    The Sugar Act was issued on April Fifth, 1764, by the British on to the colonist. This was an act of trying to control the colonist and get rid of their debt from the war. The Sugar Act, put a tax on all imported sugar or like substances. This act was enforced through out the colonies. This act is also known as the American Revenue Act. Also there was an act similar that was issued in 1733.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was issued March 22, 1765 by the British on to the colonist. The Stamp Act taxed all printed material from playing cards to letters. This was an attempt by the British to control the colonist and produce a revenue. First attempt by the government to assert authority, People had to get their papers stamped by an official.

    Writs of Assistance
    The Writs of Assistance was issued on March 24, 1774. These acts said that they are guilty until proved innocent and they repent themselves. These acts were in forced through out the colonies by Britain. Also called the Writs of possession and a search warrant could come in to your house and search it.
  • Townshend act

    Townshend act
    The Townshend Act was issued on October First, 1767, on to the colonies. These series of acts taxed all imported goods once they entered the colonies. It only taxed goods once. This way the British were hoping to generate a revenue. These acts were named after Charles Townshend and there were five main laws.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre happened on March Fifth, 1770. The British had left troops in the colonies to look after them. The colonists did not like them and were harrasing them. They were throwing snowballs and a shot was fired. Five people were killed, but the colonists used this as propaganda against Britain. The Boston massacre was also called the Incedent on kings street.

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was issued on May Tenth, 1773, by the British. The Tea Act lowered the cost on tea so that the British could get rid of their surplus of tea and generate a revenue. This Act was considered the final spark, and created a monopoly on tea.

    The Boston Tea party happened on December Seventeenth, 1773 by the colonists.This was an act of protest due to the Tea tax.The colonist dressed up as Indians and boarded the ship and dumped 342 chests of tea in to the harbor where the ship was docked.
  • Corsive Acts / Intolerable acts

    Corsive Acts / Intolerable acts
    The Intolerable Acts was issued on March 24, 1774. These acts closed down the Boston harbor and cut off the colonies from Great Britain in a punishment for protesting. This only made the colonists stronger. These acts were enforced through out the colonies. There were five acts, There actual name was the Cursive Acts but they were renamed the Intolerable Acts.
  • First Contenental Congress

    First Contenental Congress
    The first Continental Congress was formed on September Fifth, 1774. The colonists were tired of all the taxes without representation and decided to form their own goverment like system. They tried to settle with Britain but had a stock pile of weapons in case. There were 56 representatives and they sent a letter to King George the third called the Olive Branch.
  • Lexington

    Lexington
    The Battle of Lexington happened on April nineteenth, 1775. The British had heard that the colonists were stockpiling weapons and had sent a troop to go get them. The colonists and the British met at a bridge at Lexington and had a battle. This was the first military engagement of the war. British soldiers were getting secret missions to go destroy stored weapons.
  • Second Continental congress

    Second Continental congress
    On May tenth, 1775 the colonist came together and formed the second Continental congress. They formed an army of volunteers. They named George Washington their leader. They formed this group to have something done about Great Britain. Only twelve colonies met Georgia did not.
  • Buncker Hill

    Buncker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought on June seventeenth, 1775 over Bunker Hill. Britain and the Militias formed by the colonists fought over the high land of Bunker Hill, because whoever had this would be dominate. Britain won only because the colonists ran out of gun powder.

    Common sense
    Common Sense was a book published by Thomas Paine on January tenth 1776. He printed this book to state his idea that the colonies should break free of Britain's control and become their own country. It was first published as the author was an English man. The book was non-fiction. The book was written in Paine's house.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was written by the Continental Congress and announced that the thirteen colonies would be separating from Great Britain. It was written in 1776 on July fourth. John Hancock signed his name the biggest and people believed that Thomas Jefferson wrote the original copy.
