  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Britain introduced this act in 1765 in order to create higher taxes and increase their control of trade. The Stamp Act put a new tax on the colonists by imposing duties on stamps needed for official documents. This act increased Britain's control of the colonies. This act violates the the liberty of the colonists.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act was a declaration by Britain saying that they are just as much the authority in America as they are in Britain. The act also lead to the Parliament creating strict laws on the colonists. This act is violating the colonists right to liberty.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    In 1770, a conflict broke out between British tropps and colonists in Boston, resulting in the what is now called the Boston Massacre. This event resulted in five colonists being killed. This event also helped Americans realize that the British government was prepared to use military force on the colonists to get them to obey. This was a violation of the colonists right to life and liberty.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was passed by Parliament in 1773 after the Townshend Acts were repealed. The Tea Act reaffirmed Parliament's right to tax the colonists. This then led to the Boston Tea Party. This act violated the colonists' right to liberty.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    In 1773, colonists dressed as Mohawk Indians, boarded three British ships and dumped 45 tons of tea into the Boston Harbon. The Boston Tea Party is seen as the iconic event that led up to the American Revolution.
