Secondary Schools Under a Three Tier System
The 1944 Education Act, is the process in which I followed my education. Primary, Secondary then Further education. Also in this act, Free Education to under 18. This again had a direct effect as I did not start paying for education till University. -
School leaving age raised to 16
A direct effect on my education, If I had chosen to leave school rather than stopping on to Sixth Form then this is when I would of left to enter the world of work. -
The Birth of the National Council for Vocational Qualifications.
If this hadn't of taken place, the later development of NVQ's not only in the work place but in the curriculum. I would not of studied a vocational style course in Business Studies at GCSE. This has been a factor in the path I choosen for GCSE and A level. -
GCSE examinations introduced into the English education system.
In this year also, the Education Reform Act introduced a National Curriculum where by SATS was a method of assesssment at the end of primary school to determine what was learnt / comprehend at Primary school as well as to determine where a child is placed at Secondary school. -

Primary Education commenced.
Started as a pupil in reception at the age of 4. This was due to the 1870 Education Act where by a national system of elementary education was established. -
Sex Education became compulsary in the Secondary education system.
This had a personal effect on my education due to attending a faith school. The biological education was taught through Science lessons and creation through Religious Education lessons including abortion. A comprehensive taught child information on contraception, STI's and and where to seek professional guidance. Therefore, attendig a faith school, I was denied certain lessons in regards to Sex Education. -
Commenced Secondary Education
Started secondary school entering Yr 7. -
Learning and Skills Act 2000
Target Setting become compulsory in Secondary schools under Section 96 of the act. This is the offical act which had the major impact. -
Started GCSE Courses. - THE REAL IMPACT!
Given GCSE target grades ,This is what determined that I had to work hard during the next two years if I wanted a future! The department for schools, children and families set out in a report "Schools must set their first GCSE targets on the new basis by 31 December 2001 for the exams in 2003" This is a year before I sat my GCSE examinations. -
Started A Level Courses
Started A levels in: AVCE Business, Media Studies, Sociology and General Studies. Gained an AS Level in Sociology and A levels in the remaining subjects above. -
Education Maintance Allowance introduced
This scheme was introduced to Post 16 pupils from an household income of below £30,000 a year. This is the year I started my post 16 education. I was also entitled to this scheme. -
Commenced Undergraduate degree course.
Course title: BSc Business Studies with Human Resource Management. -
Tuition fees raised to £3,000 under a labour government.
Students begining degree courses in 2006 had to start paying £3,000 per year for there course. Totalling the average degree to cost £9,000. -
Completed Degree: Achieving a 2:1 classification

Completed GCSE Mathematics qualification
Completed GCSE Maths exam in order to gain a place on PGCE Buiness Education course.
