    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act imposed duties on stamps needed for documents. Colonists believed that their rights had been violated and refused to pay this tax.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The Quartering Act required colonists to shelter british troops in their homes. To most, this was an invasion of privacy and unfair to the colonists.This Act outraged colonists and invaded their right of Property.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    This Act stated that parliments authority was equal in America and Britain. This is important because the British who lived in America were still under the kings rule. Some believe this violated Liberty.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act reasserted parliments right to tax colonists. Taxes were put on the tea. Colonists, angry, refused to pay the taxes.This led to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a huge event on the road to constitution. Colonist dressed as Mohawk indians and snuck onto a British ship. They then proceeded to to dump about 45 tons of tea overboard into the Boston harbor. The harbor was then closed off to all trade. This was caused by the Tea Act which invaded Liberty.
