  • Prohibition

    Prohibition is when the sale, manufacture, and transportion of alcohol for consumption were banned nationally. Even though it was illegal, people had underground places where you could just go and drink. People also, had private bars in there homes to serve their guests.
  • Sacco and Vanzetti

    They were arrested and charged for a robbery and murder in exchange for money. Sacco and Vanzetti were both executed in the electic chair on August 23, 1927. There was another man who confessed of the murder who was, Celestine Madeiros who was also executed.
  • Womenn get there first vote

    Women finally won the vote. Charlotte Woodward was the only participate in the 1948 convention, who was still alive to be able to cast a vote. She was too ill to actually cast a ballot.
  • Teapot Dome Scandal

    The Secretary of the interior, a member of the Ohio Gang, was able to gain control of vauleable oil fields in Teapot Dome, Wyoming and Elk Hill, California. People were trying to corrupt the oil fields.
  • Tomb of King Tut Discovered

    The Tomb of King Tut got discovered by one of Howard's Carter's workmen he found a hidden step near the base of the tomb of Rameses VI.
  • Charleston Dance Becomes Popular

    The Charleston Dance was very popular. Became popular after appearing along with the song, "The Charleston" by James P. Johnson.
  • Scope's Monkey Trial

    Scope goes on trial in Dayton, Tennessee for teaching evolution over creationism in a public school. He was found gulity but the verdict was overturned so he never got punished.
  • Flapper Dresses in Style

    Flapper dresses were very popular back around the 1925 period. Flapper dresses were for young women whose dress, hair style, and attitude were much deifferent than the "Gibson Girl", the image of the ideal women.
  • Bubble Gum invented

    Walter Diemer was 23 years old and was an accountant for Fleer Chewing Gum Company who experimented on new gum recipes in his spare time. At first it was an accident but then went on making more formulas for chewing gum.
  • Slice Bread invented

    The slice bread was invented, because before that people baked their bread at home or just bought full loaves of bread. Otto Frederick from Davenport, Iowa, invented the Rohweddwer Bread Slicer. He started back in 1912 and it took awhile for him to figure it out. Otto Frederick Rohwedder, from Davenport, Iowa, invented the Rohwedder Bread Slicer. Rohwedder began working on inventing a bread slicer in 1912.
  • St. Valentines Day Massacre

    The St. Valentines Day Massacre was about seven men in a gang gunned down in cold blood in a garage in Chicago. Al Capone was the guilty man, whcih shocked the nation. Unfortunly it made Al Capone a national celebrity.

    The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression preceding WWII. It all started with the fall in the stocks. The rich and poor were both very much effected by this depression. Everyone in the country was affected, mostly the farmers. starting with the fall in stock prices
