    This event lasted from 1943-81 and was a tactic used by both the US and USSR to gain intel from each other by using spies and electronical devices. Both countries were eager to find out what the other super power were intending to do. However, these spies if caught were strapped to the electric chair receving the death sentence, of which began in 1953.

    The Containment policy was put in place by the Americans to stop the Soviet's spread in Communism and they were able to succeed in varuous cases by using "Marshall Aid" and significant persuasion techniques. Howeer The USSR used their "salami tactics" to spread Communism country by country or in salami terms piece by piece.

    China becoming a communist lead country was significant as not only did it support the Russian's theory, it provoked the Americans who became highly suspicious and began to gain allies at a rapid pace. China became communist after a 10 year civil war with the help of their newly appointed leader Mao Zedong

    The Korean War lasted for 3 years, 1950 to 1953; the war included such powers as the United States, China and Russia. Korea was divided after WWII, two different Korean republics, The People’s Democratic Republic and The Republic of Korea. It was a war effort from both sides trying to unify each other, The Republic of Korea was backed by the United States, and troops were sent to the peninsula to assist them in unifying the other Republic, which was also backed by another large power, the USSR.

    The Space Race was between the USSR and the USA and just like in the nuclear arms race they were fighting for dominance. These two superpowers were so power hungry that they began to go by the motto "whatever it takes", which cause great tension and jealousy over superiority between the two nations. By taking this race to outer space caused another level of competitiveness and the Americans eventualy won as they were the first to have a man to land on the moon.

    The Cuban Missle Crisis has been said to have been the closet humans have come to destroying mankind, as aggression from both the USA and the USSR nearly caused nuclear warfare. The problem between these two super powers were that they both though they were right which caused tension as one little decision could be justified as a sign of potential threat. The USSR were building a base in Cuba where they could launch missles from, however, the Americans noticed and forced them to abandon Cuba.
