Large political step for both countries and for the UN as a whole because they had to stop all major military conflict before they could join -

The famine after the flooding made an economic crash. In reponse Kim-Jong Il went back on armistice signed at the end of the Korean War and sent troops into South Korea to try to gain economic stability without breaking their communistic ideals -

North Korea fired a rocket over Japan and landed in the Pacific ocean. Japan feels attacked, but North Korean goverment claims it was a satellite not an attack or test missle -

President Bush says that North Korea is in an "Axis of Evil" with Iraq and Iran. Korean leaders say that Bush has stoped just stopped short of declaring war. -
