Milada lives in Lidice, Czechoslovakia with her mother, father, and brother. The Nazis have taken over her town.

Nazi soldiers come in the middle of the night to arrest Milada and her family.

Milada, her mother, and Terezie are forced to wait for days in the gymnasium of the high school.

The Nazis order everyone out of the gymnasium, but to Milada's horror, she is put on a different bus than her family and friends.

Milada finds herself in a Nazi camp set on turning her and fellow "Aryan" girls (girls with blond hair and blue eyes) into proper young German girls. She is given the German name "Eva".

Eva/Milada makes friends with a girl who was renamed Liesel.

Heidi, a girl who is also being trained, is so scared at night that she wets the bed. She is sent to a concentration camp along with her sister, Elsa.

Eva realizes that she can no longer remember her real name.

On their first trip outside camp, Eva is wearing her uniform, and an old lady screams at her that she is a Nazi, which disturbs her.

Eva is adopted by her new German family. She realizes her parents aren't coming for her.

At Eva's adoption party, she finds out that the only reason she was adopted was for her new Mother to recieve an award for having three children.

While on a walk with Elsbeth (her new sister), Eva sees a Nazi work camp with Czech people chained up.

The war begins to effect Eva and her "family". Hired help is let go, and there isn't enough food to go around.

Eva, Elsbeth, and her "mother" are forced to go down into the bomb shelter.

Russian soldiers break into the shelter, and rob Eva's "father"'s office.

On the radio, Eva hears that the war is over, and Hitler is dead!

An international red cross worker comes to take MILADA back to her real mother, who is waiting for her.
