  • Farmers organization grange

    The Grange gave the farmers advantage to talk about there large economic and political issues that affected their lives. The farmers finally could make their own price of the crops they grown. an also farmers could buy their own equipment without retale cost.
  • Ulysses S. Grant runs for president

    (1869-1877) Grant served two terms as the 18th president. was a famous general in the civil war. Had no political experience before taking office. Grant gave his friends political power in the government. Friends caused trouble from lack of experience.
  • James Fisk

    James Fisk helps take over the Gold Market during black Friday. During the Civil war he smuggled cotten from the South to the North. He printed and sold phony bonds to get control of profitable Erie Railroad and he brived government oficials to interfere with justice on his behalf. One newspaper of the time compared Fisks funeral with Abroham lincoln.
  • "Hard Money" It's the Law

    "Hard money" is the circulation of paper money. It is based on The Gold market. Paper Money's value depended on how much gold is in the treasury. "Hard money" became a law.
  • Rutherford B. Hayes

    Rutherford B. Hayes becomes the nineteenth president. Hayes wanted no part of the scandal and coruption that the Grant administration had. Hayes launched an investigation of the New york costum house. He found out the 200 people didn't work and got paid. Hayes fired many people.
  • The End of the Reconstuction

    The end of the Reconstruction was in May 1, 1877. Even after the Reconstruction the South remained demacratic. The South continued with their ideal of black suffrage. The fifthteenth amendment was passed.
  • Garfield assasinated

    Charles assassinated president James Garfield because Stalwart family wanted revenge. Stalwarts wanted James Garfield assassanitaed because they thought they didn't get rewared in Garfield's presidential campain.
  • Civil Service Act

    Congress passes Civil Service Act into law. President Chester aurther signed this act into law just two years after garfeilds death. that gave 15 thousand Federal jobs to be filled through a competative test.Only people with skill would get the job.
