Education Timeline

  • Education Act

    This act established the three stages of education and was called the Tripartite System.This act included compulsary and free education to the age of 15 and after that there was the option of free education up the age of 18 for anybody that would want it.
  • The Crowther Report

    This report looked at education of 15-19 year old young people.The recomendation was made to raise the leaving age of school to 16 years of age.Also in this report it recomended vocational education should be availiable
  • Plowden Report

    In primary schools the aproach of Pedagogy was applied for the first time.There was actually a comitee behind this report which brought the child to the centre of the learning and opened up new aproaches. to pedogogy in primary education
  • School leaving age raised

    The school leaving age was finaly raised from 15 -16 after years of being nearly changed.
  • The Great Debate in Education 1976

    This is when James Callagham claimed that he thought pupils were failing and his theory was to equp children to the best of there abilities.

    The first and only ever British Priminister that was female and she was part of the conservatory party.Prevoiusly in 1970 this Priminister had been apointed as the Secutary of stae for education and science.She had a mandate to reverse Britains economy

    Jonathan was born in Good Hope Hospital Sutton Coldfield at 12.50 pm to begin his life
  • Sex Discription Act

    The act was brought in to create equal rights in the work place and other areas which is going to mean there is more people after certain jobs such as jobs that were restricted to men only before
  • The start of the NVQ 1986

    The National Vocational Qualification was created in this years .This was to certify competance in the work place
  • Education Reform Act

    Local educational authoriies were now unable to authorise school placements this was replaced by an open enrolment policy.the schools took the bums on seats approach because they were getting payed per child to have them in school.According to the number of students enrolled made a difference to funding.The more the better.
  • Introduction of CSE ( Certificate of Secondary Education)

    The 1st day at Banners Gate Primary school Sutton Coldfiled.Big day new school and uniform.Very nervous and was the start of a very long education which i didnt realise at the time all those years ago.
  • The start of GCSEs

    GCSEs were introduced in all subjects and this included a new method of marking and different critearias of accessments
  • Education Reform Act

    The Core subjects were stated for the national curriculum (Maths,Science and English)Also at the same time SATs were introduced to assess younger childrens process.
  • Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED)

    Introduced to monitor the quality of teaching in schools across all aspects.Then reporting wheather the schools are good satisfactory or have serious causes for concern.This was a conravetial point in education which has caused a lot of changes in schools over the following years.
  • Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs

    Now requires a dedicated person to look after specilal educational needs within school.This covers a wide range specila educational needs.
  • OFSTED Came to my Junior School

    I can remeber the inspectors in the lessons and that the overall comment was that the school was satisfactory and parents were not happy.Then the school went through a number of re structures over the following years after I had left but my younger was still attending the school.Then years after the school was visited by OFSTED again and gained an Outstanding
  • Started Secondary Comprehensive School

    Started Streetly Comprehensive senoir school Sutton Coldfiled .Also very scary with my big blazer
  • New Labour

    New Labour took over from 1997 Until the present day.When elcted promised no increase in University tuition fees then the fees tripled in 2006 for students.Aswell as other education issues not addressed from the election.
  • Secondary school GCSE choices

    I chose to do GCSE,s in Business , ICT ,S ystems and Controls , Resistant Materials,aswell as my core subjects and the other schools compulsary exams such as Religious Education.
  • Sat 10 GCSE Examinations at Stretly School

    I Sat GCSE ,English,Maths,Science, ICT, Business, French, Resistant Materials,Systems and Controls,Religious education,Statistics,
  • Left Comprehensive School

    Left School with out going to Sixth Form
  • Enrolled at Sutton Coldfiled College

    BTEC National Diploma in Computer Studies with new poeple and no friends fom school
  • Failed BTEC Diploma

    Failed a module on the course so was unable to continue to the next year
  • Enrolled for GCSE English at Sutton Coldfiled College

    Had to gain a Grade C to do my alevels so did the GCSE again.Was eligable for a Educational Maintanance Allowance(EMA) 0f thirty pounds a week to help me through college.This was the first year i was eligable.
  • Enrolled Again At Sutton Coldfield College

    Enrolled for Alevels in ICT,Business,Accounts,General studies for the next two years
  • GCSE Results

    Failed GCSE English by 4 % off my C grade
  • Enrolled at Sutton Coldfiled College

    Enrolled to complete my Alevels in my passed subject and took on studying AS economics
  • Enrolled For GCSE English again

    Enrolled for GCSE English whilst doing final year Alevels
  • AS Level results form Sutton Coldfeild College

    I got the following results AS Level Business C ,I CT C, General Studies B , Accounts Failed
  • Economics trip to Brussels

    3 days on coach in brusseles brilliant trip went to the Stelle Artois Factory and around the houses of parliment and a tour of the town amazing
  • Applied to The College of Food

    Applied for a course to do outdoor education for children which was a three year degree course
  • A levels Results day

    I Gained Alevels in Business C , ICT D , General studeis D ,Economics F
  • Applied through clearing to the Univercity of Central England

    Applied for a three year degree course in Buisness and Infomation Technology,Was Offered a conditional offer that i needed GCSE English to be accepted
  • Collected GCSE Results

    Gained the required GCSE in English to start my degree course at the University of Central England
  • Started my degree

    Started my degree at the UCE Perry Barr Campus
  • Finished my final university exam ever

    Finished my last ever university exam at Sutton Coldfiled Town hall.Then i realised i had actaully finished university
  • Degree results

    Waited at home for the post man to arrive,Achived a 59% average on my final modules very annoyed i didnt make my 2/1 cassification but pleased i had not failed and accepted my 2/2
  • School leaving age changed

    The school leaving age has been altered so by 2013 the compulsary school leaving age will be 18 although this doesnt mean just in the classroom ,this can be by continueing education through training schemes/acedemic learning
  • Wolverhampton PGCE Secondary in ICT

    Straed techer training at the Wolverhampton Walsall campus nine month course until June 2009
  • Having to pay increased tuition fees

    Start teacher training and have to pay the increased tuition fees that have tripled since leaving University 2 years before because of the new labour goverment and them braking there promises.
