  • Brown v. Board of Educaiton

    This case opened up the doors to education reform and equality.
  • Elementary and Secondary Educaiton Act of 1965

    This act was created to give underprivlaged students education equlitiy. It was later reformed in 1966 to inculde students who were handicaped.
  • Public Law 94-142

    This law is often know as the Educaiton For All Handicapped Children Act. The main goal of this act was to ensure that wtudents with disablilites had a right to be educated.

    1980-2015

    Research of the 1980s and 1990s provided evidence that school and classroom settings influence student behavior and learning (Jones, 2004).
  • IDEA 97

    On June 4, 1997 IDEA 97 was signed into law. IDEA 97 outlned and defined the criteria that must be met inorder for a student to be identified as ED.
  • IDEA 97

    IDEA 97 strengthed academic standards for students with disabilites. The goal of IDEA 97 is to close the gap between gerenal education studetns and special needs students.

    IDEA 2004 made several changes to how studetns IEPs would be written and iimplemented.
