This act was created to give underprivlaged students education equlitiy. It was later reformed in 1966 to inculde students who were handicaped. -

This law is often know as the Educaiton For All Handicapped Children Act. The main goal of this act was to ensure that wtudents with disablilites had a right to be educated. -

IDEA 97
On June 4, 1997 IDEA 97 was signed into law. IDEA 97 outlned and defined the criteria that must be met inorder for a student to be identified as ED. -

IDEA 97 strengthed academic standards for students with disabilites. The goal of IDEA 97 is to close the gap between gerenal education studetns and special needs students. -
