Nuclear Arms Race and Detente
In the beginning the USA was the only one with nuclear weapons. But in 1949 the soviets started to create nuclear weapons, and by 1953 United states and the Soviets also had hydrogen bombs. Everyone wanted to have nukes like this if someone wanted to nuke them they could get them back just as bad. In 1970's the Americans and the Soviets made and agreement called dentente, which means a time of relaxation of tensions. But in 1979 it ended when the Soviets invaded Afganistan. -
Berlin Wall
In the 1950's Berlin was split into 2 ways, democrats in the west and communist on the east. The people in the west was basically a show case for west Germany to show how nice it is and in the east was all the low-paid germans. So in 1961 they built a wall to permanitly split the east and west,and stop the east Berliners coming into the west.
