  • Molasses Act

    The Molasses Act raised the French West Indian Sugar. This act angered the Americans by forcing them to buy the more expensive British West Indian sugar. They tried to stop the smuggling, but smuggling still happened. Smugglers evaded the law by transporting African slaves to Spanish colonies where they were traded for sugar and molasses.
  • French and Indian War-(effects)

    In the 1750s, France and Britain were fighting in Europe. The war was now spreading to North America. British Colonists wanted to take over French land in North America. The British wanted to take over the fur trade in the French held territory. Some of the impacts was that Britisht hought the colonists helped to provoke war, British wanted Americans to repay war debt ($8 million), Americans felt their British leadership did not support their interests to settle the Ohio River Valley,ect.
  • French and Indian War- (causes also)

    Their were five reasons for causing the French and Indian War. Competiton over land in Ohio River Valley. Conflict over control of North American trade routes. Competition for trading alliances with Natives. Wars in Europe increased tension, such as the Jerkin's Ear. English and French traditional enemies. The British won the war. They had
    Better prepared, better led troops, a good strategy, and gained Iroquois as allies.
  • Sugar Act

    The sugar Act lowered the taxes from the Molasses Act. The goal was to decrease colonial smuggling in West Indies. It was an indirect tax. It gave the British soilders writs of assistance, which allowed them to board and search any ship entering or leaving American harbors. This act only affected a certain part of the population.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act is a tax on all printed goods in the colonies. It differed from previous taxes, because it was a direct tax, which is when it gets addedon to price. Colonists saw it as an additional payment. They felt their rights had been violated. Colonists protested this act by having boycotts and non-importation agreements. It went a little to far, some people got tarred and feathered if refused to pay taxes. People attacked British, tax collectors, ect. They continued to smuggle goods.
  • Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act was intended to help the British pay all of the cost of maintaining troops in America.The Quartering Act required that Americans must house and feed British soilders in the colonies. Also to supply food, and munitions. The British disliked the American colonists. It was resented by the Americans, because the troops were used to enforce Parliament's new tax policies in the colonies.
  • Intolerable Act

    The Intolerable Act was used to describe four laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 relating to Britians colonies in North America.The Boston Port Act was upset, because money went down, and people lost jobs. The king only did it because he had to. Mass. Gvt Act, took authority away and gave it to the British governor and officals. The Justice Act only accused of capital crime will be tried in Egland. The Quartering Act housed seed soilders, seized there home if disagreed.
  • Quebec Act

    The Quebec Act extended the Canadian province of Quebec South to the Ohio River. It allowed the British soldiers and the French Canadians use of their own legal system, which did not provide for trial by jury, and which recognized the legality of the Roman Catholic Church. Americans saw the Quebec Act as the first step toward doing away with jury trials and protestantism in the 13 colonies.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord met in response to Intolerable Acts. Started the Revolution War, because the militia was forming all over Massachuttes. The goal siezed leader and munitions supply of muskets and aminition. The act made it illegal to buy or drink British tea, no British imports. Committees was going to make your life a living hell, throw things at you, violence. The committees inspected tax houses, and publish names of violators in newspapers.
  • Declartaory Act

    The Declartory Act was issued the same day as the Repeal of the Stamp Act.The Declartory Act affirmed its rights as the Supreme legislator of the British Empire. It states that Parliment had the right to make laws for the colonies "in all cases whatsoever." All laws passed by the British were superior to those of the Americans.The British thought that this action was necessary.This Act was meant to show strength to the colonies.
