  • Sand Creek Massacre

    Sand Creek Massacre
    This event took place in Colorado on December 29, 1864.The Colorado Territory militia and the Cheyenne and Arapaho indians were involved.Colorado Territory militia attacked the indians on the ColoradoTerritory and killed 133 of them making the Colorado Territory militia the winner. This event is signifigant becuase the cheyennes devoted their lives to war against the U.S.
  • Fetterman Massacre

    Fetterman Massacre
    This event took place on the Bozeman Trail in Wyoming on December 21, 1866. The Sioux, the Arapaho, and the Cheyenne indians were involved. Hundreds of warriors wiped out an entire detachment of about 80 soilders. This event was significant because it was the bloodiest attack from the Sioux, Arapaho, and the cheyenne indians.
  • Treaty of Fort Laramie

    Treaty of Fort Laramie
    This event took place in the sping of 1868, in Wyoming. The Indian Peace Commision and the U.S. government were involved. This treaty was to bring peace between the whites and the Sioux who agreed to settle within the Black Hills reservation in the Dakota Territory. There was no winner. This event was significant becuase gold was later found on the black hills.
  • 1874 Discovery

    1874 Discovery
    In 1874 on the black hills gold was found by Custer's army expedition. This event was significant because this broke the Treaty of Fort Laramie leading to the battle of Little Bighorn.
  • Battle of Little Big Horn

    Battle of Little Big Horn
    This event took place on the Black Hills of the Dakota's. No white man was to be allowed on those hill but when in 1874 gold was found the white people trespassed. The government and the Sioux were involved. Because the Sioux would'nt sell their land a battle broke out. The battle was between Custer and his about 250 soilders and the thousand of indians. All the 250 soilders and Custer lost their lives making the Sioux the winner. Then a little later the armry sent the idians to reservations.
  • Ghost Dance

    Ghost Dance
    In 1890 the Sioux practiced a ritual called the Ghost Dance. The dance was then banned and the person who believed to be the leader of the movement, the chief, Sitting Bull, was shot. the sioux and the police were involved. This was significant because it caused several hundred Lakota Sioux to fled in fear.
  • Wounded Knee

    Wounded Knee
    This event happened on December 29, 1890, at a creek called Wounded Knee in southwestern South Dakota. The several hundred Lakota Sioux that fled after Sitting Bull was killed went to this spot. The army then went there to collect the Sioux weapons and fighting got started by a pistol shot. More than 25 soilders and 200 Sioux were killed. This event is significant becuase it marked the end of the conflict between whites and native americans.
