We spent the entire year building a tech plan that inolved parents, community members, students and staff. This will be the initial roll out of the plan, which focuses on putting student learning at the center. Our K-3 school is 1:1 in 3rd grade and 1:3 in grades K-2 with a phase out of desktops in the next two years. We still have some interesting work to do around screen time and wifi EMF radiation.

We are going 1:1 on Ipads in Grade 3 and keeping small groups of iPads in K-2.

In 2015 I see the grades really start to break down the walls of their classroom. We will have the technology in place for students to be collaborating across classes, grades, school, states, countries, etx. I see a real focus on technology and global citizenship. I also think that this is when we will start to push the boundaries of a class and think outside our factories walls.
  • Goodbye Desktops

    Goodbye Desktops
These will be gone by 2016. We will be using iPads and laptops/netbooks as our work. Being a K-3 school I still see lots and lots of hardcover books on hand. Paper/Copy use will slow down, but I don't see it anywhere near the 90% from the article.

    Creative Learning Online Curriculum
A lot of online learning that we have today is still in developmental stages or just don't seem right for the kids or are sort of right some of the time. There is plenty of push back from parents around eclecronic babysitting. By 2017, I think that we will be participatng in 1/2 online learning communities that offer individualized content, but collaboartive outside the class walls type of work.. I anticipate it to be more fast paced, creative and more accepted by parents.
  • Goodbye Factory Classes

    Goodbye Factory Classes
We live in a fast paced world and can change digitally on the fly. Our classrooms need to model this. Goodbye desks and chairs, hello classrooms with moveable tables, chairs and tools of exploration and learning. Is it time for virtual reality devices?

Our school will be redesigned as a physical space and how we teach. Classrooms will be set up as learning labs with the abilitiy to move and change with the subject, the day, the project. Our focus on student centered learning will expand w/ individualized learning on demand. The school will still have a balance of technology tools and building tools, but technology will be integrated and availalbe as a tool.
