    The Cold War

    The Cold War was started by the Soviet Union to gather more countries to increase the spread of communism. The war lasted 40 years between eastern and western countries. Both sides created bombs that could destroy entire nations.
  • The Truman Doctrine

    The Truman Doctrine was a document written to fight communism. The Doctrine would fight communist countries and would protect countries that opposed communism.
  • Britain releases India

    India was released by Britain 2 years after World War 2. This allowed India to create their own constitution, which made their country the biggest democracy of their time.
  • Berlin Airlift

    The Berlin Airlift was an airdrop that stopped the people of Berlin from starving. When Stalin set up barricades around the Non-Communist part of the city of Berlin, America dropped supplies to the people so that they wouldn't starve to death.
  • Cold War turns hot

    A few years after World War 2 ended, a conflict erupted on the Korean Peninsula. Stalin had armed the northern part of Korea to take over the southern part by force so that they could be a united country.
  • Joseph Stalin's death

    Stalin never trusted anyone even his closest advisors which meant that no one was trusted by the dictator. On the first of march they found Stalin in his bed unable to speak with officials believing that he must have been poisoned.
  • Sputnik

    The Soviet Union was the first to send a satellite into space called Sputnik. It was 184-pound small silver satellite which rotated around the earth every 96 minutes.
  • U.S. Space launch

    The first successful launch of the United States was the satellite Explorer. This launch helped create NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) which was the US government sponsored program.
  • Cultural Revolution

    Chairman Mao let civilians grow crops on their land which ended the famine in China. Although Mao wasn't pleased with the progress that the government wasn't complete communists and started a revolution to change it.
  • The Bay of Pigs

    President Kennedy sent a group of Cubans who left the rule of Castro for a secret invasion against Cuba. This attack wouldn't be taken as america trying to start war with the Cubans and the Russian
  • The Berlin Wall

    The Berlin wall was set in the middle of east and west Berlin to stop the people of the communist side of Berlin coming to the Non-Communist side. If the people moved sides there wouldn't be enough homes and war would unleash among-st the people of opposing ideals.
  • Kennedy's address

    Kennedy's address was aired on television to tell the nation of america, and the world, about the american blockade of ships and the missile crisis. With this Kennedy stated "that the use of Soviet nuclear weapons anywhere in the Western Hemisphere would lead to a retaliatory attack on the Soviet Union".
  • John Kennedy and the Berlin wall

    Kennedy personally traveled to the Berlin Wall and gave a speech about how people have many different opinions about communism. With the speech he said "Freedom is indivisible, and when one man is enslaved, all are not free. When all are free, then we can look forward to the day when this city is joined as one..." which talks about how people shouldn't be divided from each other.
  • 3 Astronauts launch into Space

    Apollo 11 mission was to send the first rocket, called the Eagle, to the moon with 3 astronauts and land successfully. At the speed of 24,000 miles per hour it still took them 3 days to reach the moons orbit.
