    Over 300 people were killed in the village of My Lai in Vietnam. The village was thought to be filled with comunist but in the end there was no threat. It devided the American public's view on the Vietnam War.

    In Memphis TN, Martin Luther King Jr. was shot in the head from his motel balcony window. James Earl Ray was seen leaving the scene of the crime and authorities found a sniper with his finger prints on them. The King family felt as though James was innocent and deserved a second trial but was never given one.

    Durring his presidental campaign, Robert Kennedy was shot walking through a kitchen in the Ambassador Hotel in los Angels California. It was just after Robert Kennedy finished his speech that he was taken though the kitchen as a short cut where the shooter Sirhan Sirhan killed Robert Kennedy. As he was shot Robert Kennedy said, "Is everybody all right?"

    The convention was held in Chicago, Illinois at the International Amphhitheatre to decide who would run as the presidential democratic nominee.Violence broke out in the streets between the police and the Vietnam protesters just outside the building.

    Coming from the Republican party, Richard Nixon promised Americans "to bring us together again" talking about stopping the Vietnam wars and the American public voted for Nixon. Also with termoil in the democratic party, the presidency was there for the taking. Nixon wanted peace and honor in Vietnam.
