In 1973, there was a peace agreement signed between the United States, North and South Vietnam, and the Vietcong to officially end U.S. military involvement in Vietnam. After this, communist forces seized control of South Vietnam in 1975 and the country became known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam the year after. 1975 officially ended the Vietnam War.
