    On June 24, 1950 North Korea invaded South Korea. After this happened Truman ordered U.S troops to provide aid for South Korea. Eventually convincing the united nations.MacArthur completed a difficult task of landing behind the North Koreans and was attempting to push them into North Korea and China. The UN counter attack, pushing them back behind the 38th parallel of latitude. This war cost more than 50 billion dollars and 33,000 U.S lives were lost. A total of abo 110,000 were wounded.

    The Geneva accords was an agreement that separated vietnam at the 17th parallel. An agreement came about to end the first Indochina war of vietnam that was against France. The United States refused to sign this agreement because they believed it gave too much power to the Northern communist. With the U.S refusing to sign this they decided to make their own agreement that would simply state that they were not against the treaty, but they are not going to comply by what it stated.

    The soviet union and seven of its European allies signed this treaty. This pact included the Soviet Union, Albania, Poland, Romania, Hungary, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Bulgaria. This treaty stated that these members must come to a defense if any of these involved were to come into conflict with an outside force. This agreement stayed intact until 1991, but Albania was kicked out in 1962. In 1990 East Germany left and reunited with West Germany

    With this doctrine a country could request American economic aid or assistance from the U.S military forces if it felt it was being threatened by “armed aggression” from another state. Eisenhower signed out of the Soviet threat by allowing assistance from U.S forces. He al so requested for the U.S troops “to secure and protect the territorial integrity and political independence of such nations.”

    This invasion began when CIA group of cuban refugees landed in Cuba and attempted to topple the communist government of castro. The purpose of this was to overthrow castro and create a non communist country friendly for the US. To make up for this failed invasion operation mongoose was set into place. Castro used this attack to solidify his powers & he asked for soviet aid.This aid consisted of missiles, and the construction of a missile base. This helping to spark the cuban missile crisis.

Kennedy proceeded to state that the nation should commit themselves to achieving the goal of landing a man on the moon and returning him back to Earth.     Leaders of the US and soviet union engaged in a 13 day standoff over the installation of nuclear armed soviet missiles in cuba, only 90 miles from US shores. kennedy notified the american citizens of this plan & explain his decision to put up a naval blockade and was very clear that our armed forces would be used if needed to help diffuse the situation. At the 11th hour US and soviet union came to an agreement. The soviet leader would remove the missiles in exchange for US not invading cuba.

    On august 5 1963 the united states, soviet union, signed this treaty stating that no testing of nuclear weapons would be allowed in outer space, underwater, or in the atmosphere. This was believed to help the control of nuclear weapons. Both nations believed the nuclear race was reaching dangerous levels and becoming concerning. This was eventually signed by 180 other nations. The US senate rejected the treaty in 1999.

These attacks were to put pressure on north vietnam's communist leaders and make their capacity smaller to wage war against US with support from south vietnam government. This was the 1st american assault on them and was the big expansion on the US involvement in the vietnam war. Shortly after this operation US ground troops were then placed. Their initial mission was to protect air bases in south vietnam

    The tet offensive was a series of attacks on cities and towns in south vietnam. The communist people's army planned this in an attempt to foment rebellion in the south vietnam population and encourage the united states to scale back on their support. Both the US and S. vietnam were able to hold off thee communist attacks. North Vietnam achieved the victory and this was the beginning of the american withdraw from the region.

    vietnamization was introduced as a way to end U.S involvement in the vietnam war. They planned to transport all military to south vietnam. They wanted to build up south vietnam's military and gradually withdraw U.S troops. They wanted south vietnam to take responsibility for their own defense and allow the U.S to leave with its honor intact. The U.S negotiated this treaty with north vietnam and withdrew from this warfare.

    The Paris Peace Accords was an Agreement on ending the War and helping to restore Peace in Vietnam. It would establish peace in Vietnam and end the Vietnam War. The treaty included North Vietnam, South Vietnam, U.S and the PRG. It ended direct U.S. military combat and temporarily ended the fighting between North and South Vietnam. In return north vietnam would release all U.S prisoners of war, and any others. The agreement was not ratified by the United States Senate.

Slow withdrawal of U.S. ground forces began as part of "Vietnamization", which ended American involvement in the war. Eventually over 1 million refugees come would come to the US. This war is considered a Cold War-era proxy war.
