    19th Amendment
    The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote. Women's suffrage was a big movement during the 1920s. Women's rights to vote were often expressed through rallies and petitions.
  • President Harding

    President Harding
    Warren G. Harding wins the presidency and becomes the 29th President of the United States. During his presidency he will become famous for the Teapot Dome Scandal. Unfortunately Harding Dies during his third year in office and will be known as one of the worst presidents ever to serve in office.
  • Sacco-Vanzetti Trial

    Sacco-Vanzetti Trial
    Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were 2 Italian immigrants convicted of murder. They were believed to have killed and robbed 2 employees of a shoe factory. Therefore they were arrested and put on trial. At the trial they were given the death sentence even though the evidence given was not very good. Many believe they were given this sentence because they were Italian immigrants.
  • Lincoln Memorial

    Lincoln Memorial
    On this day the the Lincoln Memorial was presented to Warren G. Harding by commission president William H. Taft. Harding accepted it on the behalf of the American People. Lincoln's son Robert Todd Lincoln was in attendance at the age 78.

    On this day one of the most recognizable baseball fields in America opened. Yankee Stadium was known as the "House that Ruth Built". Yankee Stadium would soon become one of the most popular stadiums in New York City.

    Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
    The first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was one of the largest parades in America. In 1924 the parade did not have giant balloons. Instead they had live animals from zoos, parade floats and bands. Santa Claus was the star of the parade.

    On this day 40,000 member of the Ku Klux Klan marched to Washington D.C. Klansmen from the South and North marched down Pennsylvania Avenue in a silent march. The march was meant to show unity between the North and South.
  • Great Miami Hurricane

    Great Miami Hurricane
    The Miami Hurricane devastated many of the Southern States. The 11 day hurricane killed 372 people and injured over 6,000. Winds were recorded at 128 mph and created 15 foot high storm surges. This hurricane would leave over 43,000 people homeless.
  • Transatlantic Flight

    Transatlantic Flight
    On this day Charles Lindbergh would make the first transatlantic flight without stopping. He would take off from New York and land in Paris without a single refuel. The flight is completed in 33 hours and Lindbergh returns home a hero.
  • Herbert Hoover

    Herbert Hoover
    On this day Herbert Hoover becomes the 31st president of the United States. His campaign slogan was "A chicken in every pot, a car in every garage". He helped the Republicans maintain the Oval Office and was considered very humanitarian.
  • Stock Market Crash

    On this day the collapse of The Stock Market began. This event would lead to one of the scariest moments in U.S. history. Thousands of people were laid off and would have1 no way of making money. This would leave many homeless. The recovery of this event wouldn't begin until the United States involvement in World War 2.
