    Red Scare (UNTIL 1920)
    Valdimir I. Lenin made a new communist state and cried out for worldwide revolution to make capitalism everywhere. They called this time period the First Red Scare.
  • 18th Amendment

    18th Amendment
    This Amendment started the prohibition era. This made it illegal to make, sell, drink, or transport alcohol.
  • 19th Amendment

    19th Amendment
    (In the photo, states agaist or for womens suffage. Green being the best and red being the worst.) The Nineteenth Amendment's text was made by Susan B. Anthony with the help of Elizabeth Cady Stanton. It gave women the right to vote.
  • Volstead Act

    Volstead Act
    Was made up of 1500 fedaral agents. They had to patrol over 18,000 miles of land.
  • Palmer Raids

    Palmer Raids
    (In the Photo, Alexander Palmer.) Palmer and Hoover hunted suspected communists, socialists, and anarchists. They trampeled people rights, invaided their homes, and jailed many with no leagal counseling.
  • Sacco and Vanzetti

    Sacco and Vanzetti
    Sacco and Vanzetti were convicted of the murders of Frederick Parmenter, and Alessandro Berardelli. They had a judge that did not like Italians. They were found guilty and sentence to death. They got the electric chair on August 23, 1927

    Albert B. Falls secret leasing of oil rich public land to private companies in return for money and land. He lied and said the contracts were for the governement's interest However, he recieved over $400,000 in loans, bonds, and cash.

    The National Origins Act was a United States federal law that limited the yearly number of immigrants who could come to the United States from Europe.
  • Scopes Trail

    Scopes Trail
    The Scopes Trail, also know as The Scopes Monkey Trial. John Scopes, a high school science teacher, was accused of teaching evolution. Which was violating Tennessee's Butler Act which made it illegal to teach evolution.

    Charles Lindbergh was the first person to cross the Atlantic Ocean non-stop solo. He left from New York, and landed in Paris.

    In the presidential election of 1928 Herbert Hoover easily won the Republican nomination. Even though he had no past experiences in a major office.
