  • 1901- Theodore Roosevelt

    On Septemeber 14, 1901 Theodore Roosevelt becomes the 26th President of the United States.

  • 1903- Elkins Act

    The Elkins Act was put into action in 1903 so that rail firms would be prohibited from providing rebates to enterprises that carry significant amounts of products.

  • 1904- Panama Canal

    The Panama Canal purpose of being built was to reduce the distance between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans that ships had to travel.

  • 1906-Pure Food and Drug Act

    On June 30, 1906 the Pure Food and Drug Act were signed by President Roosevelt.

  • 1912- Titanic

    The largest ship operated by the White Star Line sank on April 15, 1912, killing a large number of people. At the time, it was the world's largest ship.

  • 1913- 16th Amendment

    The 16th Amendment to the United States Constitution, was passed in 1913, authorizes Congress to impose a tax on any source of income.

  • 1917- World War l

    The United States officially enters World War I on April 6, 1917.

  • 1920- 19th Amendment

    Women were granted the right to vote in elections once the 19th amendment was passed.
