    Theodore Roosevelt is elected as President
    Theodore Roosevelt, or FDR, ran for president, and on September 14th, 1901, he won and received all but 87 of the votes of the 1,075 delegates at the Democratic National Convention. He then became the youngest in American history to fill the position of president at the age of 42.
  • Panama canal is built

    The Panama Canal was built between the years of 1904 and 1914. After the French attempt failed, America decided to take over the effort. There were three different construction divisions: the Atlantic Division, which worked from Limón Bay to Gatún; the Central Division, which ran from Gatún to Pedro Miguel; and the Pacific Division, which worked from Pedro Miguel to the Panama Bay.
