    The Great Sioux War of 1876
    Gold had been discovered on Native American territory of the Black Hills and settlers began taking over the land. The US government tried to acquire the land in 1875 and place the natives in reservations, but the Sioux refused. Later, the US government forced all of the Sioux into the reservation saying that all natives found outside the reservation would be treated as hostiles and handled with force, this is what started the Great Sioux War.
