  • Sepoy Mutiny in India

    The Sepoy Munity is a rebellion caused by Indian sldiers that fought in the British military (Sepoys). The sepoys had to bite of the end of a cartridge before inserting it into the new British Rifle. The cartridges were greased with pork and beef fat, which went against the religious beliefs of the Muslim sepoys and Hindu sepoys. The British didn't care and still forced the sepoys to bite the cartridges. The sepoys rebelled, and the British ended the rule of the East India Company.

    The Japanese people didd not like how the shogun ruled Japan. He had given into Western demands. The shoun was forced to step down. Emperor Mutsuchito took the power of the government witch was called the Meiji Restoration.

    U.S. battleship Maine had exploded in Havana's harbor. The U.S. assumed Spain was responsible for the explotion. Then the U.S. declared war against Spain.

    The Boxers were a secret society. They trained in martial arts, and hated foreigners. When missonaries started trying to convert the Chinese to christians, the boxers started attacking the missonaries. Thus, the Boxer Rebellion.

    America had remained nuteral for as long as they could during WW 1. The Zimmerman Note was a message that German diplomate sent to Mexico, asking Mexico to attack the U.S. This angered Americans and pushed us to entering war.

    Investors were selling their stocks. On Black Tuesday investores sold off 16 million shares. This caused stock prices to collapse, because people did not want to buy the stocks. The crash greatly effected everyone.

    Chancellor was the most powerful spot in Germany's government at the time. Hiltler had bullied the legislature into giving him full power. People started making Nazi propanganda to glorify Hitler.
  • Germany attacks Poland – WWII begins

    America banned oil sales to Japan , which was a threat to Japans future. The Japanese started planning for war with the U.S. Japan attacked the Naval base in Hawaii. Japan droped many bombs and torpedos. The attack was a surprise to the U.S.
  • U.S. declares war on Japan

    Allied forces overran France. Causalities were high, but D-Day was successful for the allies. In July Allied forces defeated German defences, and Germany surrendered Paris.
  • Nuremberg trials are held

    The Nuremberg Trials were held from 1945 to 1949 in Nuremberg, Germany. Nazi were tried for there crimes during the Holocaust. Several dozen were sentanced to death for their horrible crimes.
  • U.S. drops A-Bomb on Hiroshima

    Japan was willing to fight to the death, and that could of costed us about 1 million wounded/dead soilders. We decided to drop the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima in hopes Japan would surrendor. The bomb killed more than 70,000 people, and Japan still did not surrender.

    Fidel Castro overthrew Cuba's dictator and made the country communist. CUba made an alliance with the Soveit Union. This worried U.S.A. because it brought the cold war closer to us.

    The U.S. supported South Vietnam. Ngo Dinh Diem stoped the election. He formed a group called Vietcong "Vietnamese Communist." We sent thousands of armed forces to support South Vietnam. The South ended up loosing.

  • Persian Gulf War begins

    The U.S. battle in the Persian Gelf War. Troops soon freed Kuwait. Saddam agreed to listen to the limits on his military and weaponds.
  • NAFTA is formed

    Canada, United States, and Mexico signed the North American Free Trade Agreement. This eliminates tariffs on trade between the countries. Mexicans worried about the economic effects.
  • WTO is formed
