    Meij Restoration is the emperor's return to the power. The emperor learned about the risk of resisting Western demands. China had clung to it's traditional ways and had been unsuccessful in keeping its sovreignity, or independent control of its goverment.

    The president could'nt decide to drop the bomb or not. That was a very difficult decision for the U.S. They finally decided to drop the bomb on Hiroshima.

    The trials were held in Germany. Allied military courts tried more than 2 hundered Nazi and Military courts tried more than two hundred Nazi and military officals. Several dozen were sentenced to death for their rols in the Holocaust.

    North Korea attacked South Korea. Their goal was to unite the country under a communist goverment. Believing that a failiure to defend South Korea might lead to other attemps at Communist expansion.

    Castro overthrew Cuba's dictator and installed a Communist goverment. Once in power, Castro established a certinally planned economy and forged close ties with the soviet union. Cuba is on;y located 90 miles south of Florida which is clos the the U.S.

    Mao shut down China's schools and encouraged militant high school and college students known as the Red Guards. He wanted them to carry out the work of Cultural Revoulution by critizing intellecuals and traditional values. But Mao soon lost control of the goverment.

    The U.S. supported the Soth Vietnam to kkep it from being taken over by the North. The south leader prevented the election and made enemies. The Enemies formed a group called the Vietcong.
  • Mikhail Gorbachev power in USSR

    When he came to power in the Sovient Union he saw the need for change. He proposed two radical concepts, glasnost and prestroika. The reform of the Sovient economic and plotivcal system was fixed.

    After the cease fire Saddam continued to build up Iraq's military. Even though Iraq had the largest army in the arab world. Iraq accused neighboring of Kuwait of drilling into a field of oil.

    Russia had rebounded somewhat from the economic crises that came with market reform. The path still from communism to capitalism was not a easy task. One issue was the need for a new goverment.

    NAFTA stands for National American Free Trade Agreement. It traffis on trade between the three countries. It was designed to improve the countries.

    WTO stands for World Trade Organization. Some 150 countries are appart of WTO. Which monitors national trade polices and helps resolve trade disputes.
