  • Washington D.C. becomes Capital of U.S.

    It is decided that the capital of the U.S. should move to Washington D.C. at the same time President John Adams moves into the newly constructed White House, home to the future presidents of the United States.

    The U.S. buys the Louisiana Territory from France and thus doubles the size of the U.S.

    War of 1812

    During a war between France and Britain, Britain captured and stole from American ships trading with France and thus sparked the U.S. to declare war on Britain. The War of 1812 as it was called, ends after the Treaty of Ghent is signed in 1814 but battles such as the Battle of Orleans, in January of 1815, carry on due to the unknown knowledge of an agreement and thus the war doesn't officially end until February 18, 1815

  • Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri Compromise is made after fighting on whether or not to have the states of Missouri, Manie, and others be slave states or free states. The decision that is made makes Missouri a slave state, Maine a slave state, and bans slavery in all land north of the 36' 30' parallel.

    President James Monroe passes a doctrine warning that if European nations attempt to further colonize the American continent, it will be considered an act of war against the United States of America.

    After Andrew Jackson passes the Indian removal Act in 1830, the native groups were moved from their native lands to new, unknown lands to make space for the expanding U.S. The Trail of Tears refers to the long and painful journey the Indians had to endure.

    The people of Texas, mostly American, wanted their own independence from Mexico and declared war. Following the Battle of the Alamo, the people of Texas met to officially declare themselves independent from Mexico.

    After a disagreement concerning the borders of Mexico and the U.S. Mexican soldiers attacked a group of American soldiers. The U.S. declared war, The U.S. defeats Mexico and the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo is signed.

    Civil War

    The tensions between the northern states and south states were at an all time high due to the disagreements on slavery, state representation, and the election of Abraham Lincoln as president. The Battle of Bull Run marked the start of the Civil War when the newly formed Confederacy faced off against the Union soldiers. After many bloody battles Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrenders at the Appomattox Court house in Virginia ending the war.
