  • Washington's Farewell Address

    Washingtons Farewell address was a very powerful speech on who we should govern ourselves moving on in our lives. He didnt want us to get in foreign entanglements and advised the avoidance of permanent alliances. Favored temporary alliances for emergencies only.
  • Election of 1796

    This election was the 3rd national election of the United States. It was the first American election in which a president and vice president were elected from opposing tickets. The previous election Democratic and Republicans campaigned for Jefferson and Federalists campaigned for Adams.
  • Virginia and Kentucky Resolution

    Nullification of federal laws, states response to the tyranical government written by Jefferson and Madison. the fight was over if the government can make a law unconstitutional. This was written byJohn Adams and Thomas Jefferson.
  • Westward Expansion

    We Bought the Lousiana purchase in 1803 from napolean for $15 million. Napolean was already facing a war so he decided to get rid of the land as quick as possibly. It doubles our size and the westwar expansion started.
  • Lewis and Clark expedidtion

    Lewis and clark expedition was to find a Northwest Passage which was never found. Lewis was a captain and Clark was a lieutenant they were a great duo. They found many things including indians, species of animals, and the Pacific.
  • Era of Good Feeling

    It started when only one political party was in office. The federalist party was removed by the lack of people being in the party itself. It also came after the war of 1812 and when we were prospering economically.
  • Missouri Compromise

    To balance the number of slave states and free states, the northern region wihch was Massachusetts gained admittance into the United States as a free state to become Maine. This only occurred as a result of a compromise involving slavery in Missouri, and in the federal territories west.
  • South Carolina Exposition and Protest

    The South Carolina Exposition and Protest, also known as Calhoun's Exposition was written by John C. Calhoun. The vice president under John Quincy Adams and later under Andrew Jackson. Calhoun didnt state his authorship at the time though it was known.
  • Texas Annexation

    Owned by Mexico the "Texians" wanted to become the Republic of Texas. Mexico wanted it back and they got it back "Remember the Alamo" and the Republic of Texas was crushed. Later, America annexed Texas and started the American and Mexican War.
