    the sugar act was written on the 5th of april 1764 and stated that all malassos would have a tax on it of 6 pence. The government stated it was neccesery and was well needed.

    the first fleet set sail in may 1787 arriving in botany bay on the 19th of january 1788 the first fleet consisted of 11 ships with a total of 1044 people on the ship. the first fleet had many different types of people including convicts, upper class people, middle and lower class people, wives and husbands.

    cotton mills started to rise in the 1820s. these were very important because they offered employment opurtunities for people looking for a job. they were apart of the industrial revolution. cotton mills were a way of making clothes alot faster from raw cotton to a t shirt. it was alot easier than manual work.

    gold was discovered in the southern parts of California whilst James Wlson Marshall was constructing a saw mill. this triggered the gold rush making the town of california alot of money and became an important part of the history. When James discovered the gold not many people beli\eived he actually had discovered gold and many thought he had found "fools gold" also known as pyrite.
