The sugar act
the sugar act was written on the 5th of april 1764 and stated that all malassos would have a tax on it of 6 pence. The government stated it was neccesery and was well needed. -
French Revolution
the french revolution began in 1774. there was alot of war in this revolution and lots of people got there heads cut off. this revolution had a great impact on the modern worl today. -
Declaration of Independence
on the 4th of july in 1776 the Decrelation of independence was written. This is an important part of american history due to the fact that it means all men are created equal and encourages evreyone to live together as a community. -
the first fleet
the first fleet set sail in may 1787 arriving in botany bay on the 19th of january 1788 the first fleet consisted of 11 ships with a total of 1044 people on the ship. the first fleet had many different types of people including convicts, upper class people, middle and lower class people, wives and husbands. -
Cotton Gin
the cotton gin was an invention by eli whittley used to seperate cotton wool into the seeds and pure cotton balls. the cotton gin was a very good and usefull invention. the idea developed from the hand held device called a roller gin that attemped to squeeze all the seeds out. -
Industrial Revolution
the industrial rvolution was a time of change for many people. it changed the way we make tetiles, transport people, move around, and also where people lived. the industrial revolution was important and new technology influenced by it is still being made today. -
The war of 1812
on the 18th of june the war was triggered between the brithish empire and the united states of america. the war went of for around 32 months and was a brutel war of the millitary. -
Antarctica was discovered
in early 1920 a sailer set sail to find the great southern land. the ancient greeks came up with a theory that there is a big contenent in the south like the one in the north. they set sail soon to come across antarctica. -
Cotton Mills were devolped
cotton mills started to rise in the 1820s. these were very important because they offered employment opurtunities for people looking for a job. they were apart of the industrial revolution. cotton mills were a way of making clothes alot faster from raw cotton to a t shirt. it was alot easier than manual work. -
California gold rush
gold was discovered in the southern parts of California whilst James Wlson Marshall was constructing a saw mill. this triggered the gold rush making the town of california alot of money and became an important part of the history. When James discovered the gold not many people beli\eived he actually had discovered gold and many thought he had found "fools gold" also known as pyrite. -
American civil war
the american civil war was also known as "the war between the states" it was a big war fought mainly in the south. the war went for about 4 years it was described as "a bloody combat war".there wwere many different battles in the war including the famous battle of fort surtner. -
Lincoln was assasened
abraham lincoln was Americas 16th president. he led the country through one of its toughed times being the american civil war. lincoln led america out of the war and bought the nation together. lincoln was assasened 6 days after the war. -
Coca-Cola started
in may 1886 coca-cola was first made. it was not a very big company to start of with but soon made it to the world wide scene. coca-cola today is a huge part of the world trade industry and is one of the largest companies in the world. -
modern olympics
In 1896 the olympics were reborn. the olympics that we know today or the modern olympics are different to the original olympics that the ancient greeks were apart of in the ancient times. the first modern olympics were a great success and went aslot better than expected. they were held in athens, greece because that was the home of the ancient olympics. -
wright brothers first flight
the wright brothers were the first inventors to build a fixed wing fully man controlled air craft. they were the first to build a powered air craft and succefully fly it. there were many other experimental air crafts built before them but none of them were a success. -
the titanic
the titanic sank in 1912 on her maiden voyage due to the grand ship hitting an iceberg. it departed on the 16th of august in 1912. the titanic now sits in the bottom of the north atlantic ocean -
Assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand
Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife were murdered on the 28th of june 1914 by 6 assassins. it was said that he was a major contributor to world war one and is a very important part of history. he was from austria which was apart of world war one. -
world war I
world war 1 began on 28th of july in 1914. brittain and germany were the first to go to war with australia go in to the great war in 1915. the war went on for 4 years ending in 1918. many people died in world war 1 including sons, fathers, uncles, brothers, sisters and wives.
