    This revolution began around 1750 in Britain, and spread to parts of Europe, especially Germany and France. In about 1850 a second stage of this Industrial Revolution led to the increase in the economic power of the United States and Japan. These two stages of the Industrial Revolution led to the creation of much of the world we know today.

    The Very first European settlement in Victoria was established in October 1803 under Lieutenant-Governor David Collins. It consisted of 308 convicts, 51 marines, 17 free settlers, 12 civil officers, a missionary and his wife.

    The wars initially raised enlistment rates in Britain because of both increased patriotism in the face of Napoleons possible invasion and increased poverty due to higher taxation and food costs.
    Napoleon watched the Battle of Waterloo from an armchair on the sidelines, unable to sit in a saddle because of his hemorrhoids.
    During his reign, Napoleon reinstated the French aristocracy, which had been eradicated during the French Revolution.

    On the 31 October 1917, as daylight faded across the Negev Desert, Australian Light Horse Divisions secured the town of Beersheba, bringing to a close a crucial battle in the Sinai Palestine Campaign of World War One. The Battle of Beersheba was a pivot upon which turned the fortunes of Allied efforts against the Ottoman and German Empires in the Middle Eastern Theatre of the war. It demonstrated the success of Manoeuvre Warfare in the region,
