The Red Scare
It was the fear of communism in the USA. HUAC was a roup against communist, they first targeted Hollywood. They arested 10 people. Joe McCarthy was a senator who accused people of being communist without having any prove. He was then stopped after insulting the military. -
Berlin Airlift
The Soviet Union attempted to control all of Berlin by cutting surface traffic to and from the city of West Berlin. Starving out the population and cutting off their business was their method of gaining control. The Truman administration reacted with a continual daily airlift which brought much needed food and supplies into the city of West Berlin. -
N.A.T.O. Organization
The treaty, one of the major Western countermeasures against the threat of aggression by the Soviet Union during the cold war, was aimed at safeguarding the freedom of the North Atlantic community. -
