During the late 1940's The Red Scare took place in the United States. It was the fear of communism in the United States. Joseph McCarthy accused many people of being communist. This went on until the late 1950's when McCarthy accused the army of being communism. His accusation went live on TV and ended McCarthy's career and The Red Scare.

On June 25, 1950 the Korean War began. This war divided Korea into North and South Korea. North Korea was occupied by the Soviets and South Korea was occupied by the Americans. On July 27, 1953 the Korean War ended. American Soldiers now occupy the armstice line north of the 38th parellel. Korea remained divided until 1991.
