  • New York Slave Revolt of 1712

    Slaves revolt in New York killing 9 and injuring 6 more.
  • The Alamo Built

    Mission San Antonio de Valero established by the Spanish. Site of the Alamo fort.
  • First Great Awakening

    George Whitefield begins traveling preaching personal salvation leading to the first great awakening.
  • The Plantation Act

    The Plantation Act passed to promote immigration to the colonies.
  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War begins between the British and the French in the New world with Native peoples fighting for both sides.
  • Seven Years' War

    The Seven Years' War begins out of the conflict of the French and Indian War.
  • Battle of Quebec

    British take Quebec essentially ending the French and Indian War.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris ends French and Indian War. New lines are drawn on the map giving new territories to England.

  • Tensions Rise

    Descent grows in the colonies as more voices call for fair representation. Parliament attempts to pacify them and continue its crackdown on smuggling with the Quartering and Stamp Acts.

    Through protests, the colonies get the Stamp Act repealed. Parliament issues the Declaratory Act.

  • Boston Massacre

    A riot in Boston results in the deaths of colonists as tensions near a breaking point.
  • Tea Time

    Parliament passes the Tea Act. The Boston Tea Party takes place causing further military crackdown on the city.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The so called Intolerable Acts are passed by Parliament. The First Continental Congress assembles in Philadelphia and sends a petition to the King to repeal these Acts.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Battles of Lexington and Concord kick off the American War for Independence. Second Continental Congress meets and declares war on Britain and places George Washington at the head of the army. Important battles such as Fort Ticonderoga, Bunker Hill, Boston, and Quebec.
  • Independence

    Thomas Paine publishes "Common Sense" which causes more colonists to want freedom from Britain. Colonies declare independence from Britain. Many more battles, often favoring the British, take place finishing the year with Washington's attack at Trenton.
  • More War

    Many battles fought, still favoring the British. Americans on the retreat most of the time but a successful campaign by Washington to take Saratoga.
  • Franco-American Alliance

    The French agree to help the new Untied States against the British.
  • Articles of Confederation

    Congress ratifies the Articles of Confederation.
  • End of the War

    With the help of the French, British surrender at Yorktown.
  • U.S. Constitution

    The United States Constitution is ratified.
  • French Revolution

    Revolution in France overturns the monarchy and puts in place a consulate.
