  • Seven Years War

    The Seven Years War started as a conflict between the French and the English. This conflict arises from lands claims in America around the Pennsylvania area.
  • Sugar and Stamp Act

    British Parliament passed the Sugar and Stamp Act as a way to regain funds after the Seven Years War. These acts imposed tariffs on all sugar and paper products imported to America. These acts caused rebellious acts from the colonists.
  • Treaty Of Paris

    Treaty of Paris is signed ending the Seven Years War.
  • Pontiac’s Rebellion

    This rebellion was enacted by Native Americans unsatisfied with British laws in the Great Lakes region of America. The purpose of the rebellion was to drive the British back over the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Townshend Acts

    These acts were a series of acts imposed from the British government to put extra taxes on the colonists to fund Parliament.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a riot outside of the Customs House which led to 9 British soldiers shooting the rioting colonists.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act was another tax the British Parliament imposed on the colonist. The purpose of this act was to give all control of trade and delivery to the East India Tea Company. This act led to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a rebellion by the colonists due to all the acts being imposed on the colonies. The colonists were trying to push “no taxation without representation”. Members of the tea party threw chests of tea out into the Boston Harbor. This rebellion was considered an act of treason by the colonists.
  • Common Sense

    Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense in early 1776 in Philadelphia. The paper was written to argue for independence from England and to create a democratic republic.
  • American Revolution

    Following the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the United States gathered together to fight for their independence from Britain. This revolution lasted 7 years and was won by the United States.
