    Discovery of America

    Christopher Columbus went on four voyages and found the Americas during that time. It is important because it brought attention to the Americas.
  • First Settlement in Jamestown, Virginia

    A settlement called Jamestown was located in the Colony of Virginia. This is important because it was the first permanent settlement of the English in the Americas.
  • Mayflower Compact

    This was the first document of the Plymouth Colony. It is important because the people were getting away from religious persecution.
  • The Stamp Act

    This put a tax from the British Parliament on the British America, by placing a tax on paper.This is important because it let up to the American Revolution.
  • Boston Massacre

    This incident happened when British Army soldiers killed five people and injured six others. They also killed three people without orders and wouded others which caused conflicts between the British and the Thirteen Colonies. This is important because it was another cuase leading to the American Revolution.
  • Boston Tea Party

    This was a political protest when demonstrators disguied as American Indians through over the entire shipment of tea into the Boston Harbor. This is important because they were protesting unfair taxation on the people.
  • First Continental Congress

    Twelve of the Thirteen colonies met and appointed legislatures for the Twelve oof the Thirteen Colonies. This is important becuase this was the beginning of the United States Government.
  • American Revolutionary War

    This was a war that freed the thirteen colonies from Britain. This is important becuase it gave the thirteen colonies their indepence.

    The United States fought against Great Britain successfully. This is important because of the thirteen colonies that confederated were by Britain, and the fighting evolved to other countries besides the thirteen colonies in which American Independence was achieved.

    This was a battle of conflict between between Great Britain and the Thirteen Colonies. This is important because it was the first battle of the Revolutionary War.

    Vermont was an independent sovereign state which lasted fourteen years. This is important because Vermont was the first addition to the thirteen colonies.

    This was an agreement about the thirteen colonies that established the United States of America. This is important because it provided domestic and international rules, have diplomacy with Europe and deal with territory issues.

    This is about the Thirteen Colonies that rebelled against Great Briatain successfully. This is important because it lead to the United States independence.
  • First President of the United States

    George Washington was the First President of the United States of America. This is important because he lead as the commander in chief of the Contintal Army, and a Founding Forefather, as well as taking part in the drafting of the Constitution and Articles of Confederation.
  • The Constitution

    This revision of the Articles of Confederation were made in the State House in Philadelphia. A new government was drafted. This is important because the main issues were how much power to allow the central government to have, how many representatives in Congress per state, and how they should be elected.
  • Bill of Rights

    This is a list of rights to the citizens to protect their rights. This is improtant because it guarantees personal freedoms, reserves states powers, and limits the government in proceedings.
  • The Eleventh Amendment

    This deals with each state having soverign immunity, so that they cannot be sued in federal court without their permission. This is important so that the state won't go broke.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The United States bought Louisiana Purchase from France. THis is important because it removed France's presence, protected United States trade access, and free passage on the Mississippi River.
  • Twelth Amendment

    This provides a procedure in order to elect the President and Vice President. This is important for the people to pick which leader they think will be best for their country.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    They were the first to cross the western part of the United States from St. Louis to the Pacific Coast. This is important because they explored and mapped the territory.
  • War of 1812

    This war was because of conflict between Great Britain, Ireland, and American colonies with it's Indian allies. There were no boundary changes, but many issues were resolved. This is important because the Treaty of Ghent was signed which solved many conflicts.
  • Trail of Tears

    This is also known as the Indian Removal Act and the Indian tribes moved them from the Southern part of the United States to federal territory west of the Mississippi for their homelands. This is important because we acquired more territory.

    Texas gained more territory because we were successful. This is important because it meant we could make more money with more land.

    This is when a discovery of gold was found in the United States. This is important because it some people made a fortune. This increased the worlds gold supply which was good for trade and investment.

    There were seven slave states that declared a secession from the United States. This was important because it lead to war in which
    the Confederacy was considered illegal. The Confederacy was defeated and collapsed.
  • The Civil War

    This war was between the North and the South. This was important because the South started loosing and thte Confederacy collapsed and that meant slavery was abolished.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    This was a battle between the Union and the Confederate states during the Civil War. This is imprtant because it was a major turnpoint for the Union states.
  • The Thirteenth Amendment

    The Senate passed an amendment to abolish slavery. This was important so that there wouldn't be any race discrimination.
  • Fourteenth Amendment

    This is about equal protection of the law and citizenship rights. This is important so that all people are treated fairly.
  • The Fifteenth Amendment

    The federal and state government can't deny a citizen the right to vote. This is important so that there won't be any racial discrimaination.
