Edgar is registered into the University of Virginia. Edgar failed to send enough tuition money and quickly went into debt. He was unfortunately kicked out.

Poe became editor of Southern Litarary messenger. He helped Thomas W. White in Richmand, Virginia. Poe eventually quit due to low pay.

In 1840, Poe's Tales of the Groteque and Arabesque was published in two volumes in Philadelphia.

In 1845, Poe became famous with his spectacular poem "The Raven," in March of that year, he joined C. F. Briggs in an effort to publish The Broadway Journal.

On January 30, 1847, his wife Virginia dies ten days after his birthday. Poe collapses from stress but had a full recovery.

On Sunday, October 7, 1849 Edgar Allen Poe dies. He was buried in the yard of Westmister Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, Maryland.
