    Mr. Earnshaw brings Heathcliff to Wuthering Heights.
    This is an important event in the book because Heathcliff is taken off the streets into a family. Also this is important because bringing Heathcliff into the family will trigger anger and hate inside of Hindley. Last, this is important because this is the start of the love Catherine and Heathcliff share for each other.
  • Hindley comes back from college to Wuthering Heights.

    Hindley comes back from college to Wuthering Heights.
    This is important because Hindley comes back to Wuthering Heights with his new wife Frances, Hindley is completely in love with her and will do anything for her. Hindley also comes back with anger towards Heathcliff. This is especially important because Hindley can show the anger he has, physically and mentally, towards Heathcliff because Mr. Earnshaw died.
  • Catherine gets attacked by the Linton's dog.

    Catherine gets attacked by the Linton's dog.
    This event is important because since Catherine got attacked by the Linton's dog they offer her to stay in there house until she heals, and she does accept the offer. While she is there the Lintons taught her to be proper. When she came back from Thrushcross Grange she was very different.
  • Frances dies.

    Frances dies.
    Frances' death is important to the book because after she dies Hindley becomes extremely depressed. To try to cope with his depression he starts to drink excessively. He becomes an alcoholic and is an awful father figure for Heathcliff and Catherine.
  • Heathcliff runs away from Wuthering Heights.

    Heathcliff runs away from Wuthering Heights.
    This is important because Heathcliff runs away over hearing a conversation between Catherine and Nelly, but Heathcliff doesn't know that Catherine never meant to say anything mean about Heathcliff. Catherine spends the whole night looking for Heathcliff. By the time Catherine comes back inside she is very sick.
  • Catherine and Edgar get married.

    Catherine and Edgar get married.
    his is important because Catherine doesn't truly love Edgar but she is marrying him anyway. Also this is important because the marriage really hurts the relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine. This makes Heathcliff determined to have revenge on Edgar.
  • Heathcliff marries Isabella.

    Heathcliff marries Isabella.
    This is important because by marrying Isabella Heathcliff is getting revenge on Edgar. Edgar disowns Isabella as a sister. Also Isabella doesn't realize how awful Heathcliff is until its to late because they are already married.
  • Heathcliff imprisons Cathy and Nelly.

    Heathcliff imprisons Cathy and Nelly.
    This is important to the book because Heathcliff keeps Nelly and Cathy locked up in Wuthering Heights until Cathy marries Linton. Linton becomes rude and mean and portrays Cathy by not standing up for her. Nelly is locked up in Wuthering Heights longer than Cathy.
  • Linton and Cathy get married.

    Cathy agrees to marry Linton. She doesn't love him as much as she used to. This is important because she mostly agrees to marry Linton so she can see her father before he dies.
  • Mr. Lockwood comes to Wuthering Heights

    Mr. Lockwood comes to Wuthering Heights
    This is important to the book because this is how we learn the story between the families living at Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. Even though Mr. Lockwood is nosy, he is very helpful to figuring out the story behind Heathcliff, Cathy and the others living at Wuthering Heights. It is also important because we learn about Nelly's personality.
