    Magna Carta
    The people of England became tired of the Kings over bearing power. So in 1215 they forced him to sign the Magna Carta, thus limiting his power.
  • Jamestown Settlement

    Jamestown Settlement
    King James granted a charter to the Virgina Company, to form an settlement in the new land. They were in search of new treasures and gold, but soon discovered that they were very unprepared for this new world.
  • Mayflower Compact

    The first written document of the new world, the Mayflower Compact was an agreement that set fair laws that the colonies would live by.

    Much like the Magna Carta, the people of England felt the need to limit the kings power even more. So parliment drew up the Petition of Rights.

    The English Bill of Rights was a written document expressing the freedom of speech within parliment. As well was limiting the power of the king and queen and giving abit more power to parliment.

    Benjamin Franklin composed the Albany Plan of Union in an atempt to levy taxes. As well as to regulate Indian Trade and establish America's first Army and Navy.

    During a colonial roit brittish red coats killed five civilians. It was called a massacre to rally the people, this is on of the events that led to us going to war with britian.

    The colonists were becoming fed up with all the increaseing taxs the king was putting on them. As a type of retaliation they decided to dress up as indians and dump the imported tea into the harbor.

    The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution of our country. It spelled out how the government would be ran, as well as named their new country, the United States of America.
