First shots fired at Lexington and Concord

First shots fired at Lexington and Concord
    SIG:
The first shots fried at Lexington and Concord was obviously a conflict between the American and Bristish troops. It occured in Concord but no one is sure who shot the first shot but it was suppost to be the "shot heard around the world". The Americans forced the British away and now its a conflict that has never been brought back up.

    Magna Carta

    Magna Carta
    SIG:
The Magna Carta Was a great idea that influenced laws and powers today in an extreme way. Without the Magma Carta there would be no United States Constitution or a Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    SIG:
The Mayflower Compact did not involve any conflict, it was actually a good agreement. The agreement was clever and very well thought out. It was drawn up by Governer William Bradford on the Mayflower.
  • Petition of Rights

    Petition of Rights
    SIG:
The Petition of Rights has done great things for England. They now have freedom from things like abritrary arrest, imprisonment, non-parliamentary taxation, enforced billeting of troops, and from martial law.
  • Navigation Act

    Navigation Act
    SIG:
The Act doesn't really affect modern day. Most would agree that this was a smart move for England and obviously kept them safe from foreign trades.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    SIG:
Stated rhe laws the United States still uses. The Bill of Rights still exists and sets laws for the citizens of America.
  • Preclamation of 1763

    Preclamation of 1763
    SIG:
I think the Preclamation of 1763 was a good thing. The native americans and whites obviously did not get along very well so this preclamation helped the native american to have their own space and freedom. Even if the whites weren't very happy about it, it was a wise choice.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    SIG:
I believe that the Boston Tea Party was a conflict in previous time but i'm glad that it has been resolved. Overall bad things can happen with governments, but its good to know that in modern day they are solved and hopefully wont occur again,
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    SIG:
I think the Sugar Act was very unfare! Even though it only affected a certain part of the population it was unexpected. It banned importation of rum and French wines and raised taxes by three cents on things like foreign refined sugar and increased taxes on coffee, indigo, and certain kinds of wine.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    SIG:
The actual cost of the Stamp Act was relatively small. What made the law so offensive to the colonists was ot so much its immediate cost but the standard it seemed to set. If this new tax would have passed without resistance, the colonists reasoned, the door would be open for more troublesome taxation in the future.
  • Coercive Acts

    Coercive Acts
    SIG:
It has obviously been shown that this act was slightly after the Boston Tea Party. There is both good and bad things when it comes to these acts. The Intolerable Acts most likey caused much conlict and mad people but, they soon got over it when East India tea company recieved compenation for the tea dumped in the harbor.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    SIG:
Since they were only organized for a brief period of time, the Second Contintal Congress was created a year after to organize defense on the colonies. They were focused on righting the wrongs rather than declare independence. They git rid of the Intolerable Acts, well at least tried to.
  • Second Continetal Congress

    Second Continetal Congress
    SIG:
The Second Continental Congress was a great thing that did amazing things for the United States. The Second Continental Congress managed the colonial war effort. They moved incrementally towards independence, adopting the United States Declaration of independence on July 4th, 1776.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    SIG:
It stated our country's independence and we celebrate it every fourth of July. It asserted our natural rights and is still in effect today.
