Magna Carta
The magna Carta was the first document ever written that guarenteed rights to citizens. it showed that not ever country can dominate their country and everyone can be created equal. -
Mayflower Compact
this was the first document written by plymouth colony. this document was written by the pilgrims that crossed the atlantic to reach mayflower. it was signed by 41 of the 102 passengers. -
Petition of Rights
the petition of rights was written to King Charles complaining about the laws being passed. it was importand because though he read it he did not change any of the laws causing more hatred toward the King and later leading to war. -
Navigation Act
the navigation acts main goal was to extend britain's trade with other countries yet limit its trade with the rival countries. it allowed more exports to come in yet limit the ammount of others. -
English Bill of Rights
this declared rights to subjects and settiling of the crown. it introduced many freedoms to englandand protected them form any unusual punnishment. this helped england break away from a king. -
Proclamation of 1763
it was the proclamation that britian had after the French and Indian War that prohibited settlements by whites on indian territory. this protected the indians and helped build an alliance between the indians and britain. -
Sugar Act
it was britain's first attempt to recoup the expenses from the colonies for the French and Indian War. the cost was from maintaining troops in america. -
Stamp Act
the stamp act was when Britain raised the taxes on the use of stamps by americans. it limited communicatons with other colonies and limited trade from the colonies. this act was passed in November 1765 but it was later repealed in March 1766. -
Boston Tea Party
the boston tea party was the beginning of a lot of later documents created. it was the most important out of all events. it is when the americans dressed as indians throwing out 342 chest of tea into the Harbour. it took place to prevent taxing on tea. -
Coercive Act
it was the measures that britian took to get back at america. tey closed the harbour, a military governor was installed,official with offenses could be sent to trial, and housing britain troops in america was imposed. -
First Continental Congress
the delegates met early in the war. this was the response the colonies had to the coercive act. the coloniest met to consider a boycott against trade and petitioning King George for unruly laws and actions. -
First Shots Fired at Lexington and Concord
it was known to be the "shot heard around the World." it affected everone not just the british and the 13 colonies. the shot slowed down britain causing britain to flee after the americans were waiting for them in Concord. everything ended with Paul Ravere's famous ride, "the british are coming!" -
Second Continental Congress
this is when the delegates from the 13 colonies met in pennsylvania after the revolutionary war had begun. this is when the main talk of independence stired up. -
Declaration of Independence
this was the biggest part of american history. it is when the 13 colonies became free from britain. the colonies became states and they were no longer apart of britain's empire. it was mainly written by Thomas Jefferson.
