Decomp.dig
Today is the first day of our decomposition dig.We will be testing the degradibility.of each item. This experiment will last all nine weeks. -
My Hypothesis
I beleive the items will degrade in this order
1.apple 80%
2.orange 72%
3.sunchips bag 70%
4.cotton material 69%
5.paper 68%
6.styrfoam 40%
7.plastic bag 18%
8.foil 9% -
Dig begins
Today is the day of our dig we are testing the how each item decomposes. Here are the items styrofoam, apples, oranges, chip bag, special chip bag, foil, and paper. -
styrfoam
Our first item is styrfoam.I think that this will degrade extremely slowly.Styrfoam is a polystyrene foam mixture. -
orange
The orange should decompose just as much as the apple -
Natural cotton material
This should decompose do to being natural -
all natural chip bag
The chip bag should decompose without a problem thanks to its natural recycled composition -
Tin foil
-
apple
The apple should decompose a lot because it is all natrual -
normal plastic bag
This bag will not degrade very well because it is made of plastic -
Newspaper
I think the newspaper will decompose quickly with great effect because paper is made up of trees -
Weather
The weather has been terribly cold these past weeks it has snowed tons and we have missed five days of school. -
weather update
Lately we have had terrible weather but these past couple of days it have been excellent and warm -
Conclusion
Today we dug up all of are items from our decomposition experiment. Here are my conclusions -
orange conclusion
The orange decomposed just like I predicted it to -
apple conclusion
The apple was nearly inpossible to recognize just like I had predicted. -
styrofoam conclusion
The stryrofoam decomposed less than I expected it to. -
Foil conclusion
I was correct about the foil it bearly decomposed -
paper conclusion
The paper decomposed less than I expected -
sunchips bag conclusion
The sunchips bag desapionted me by decomposing the same amount as the normal chip bag. -
cotton material
The cotton material bearly decomposed.
