  • 18th amendent

    The 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution banned the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcohol. This was a opening for mobsters like Al Copone and others through the making of "speak Easies" which is a secret bar that sold alcohol.
  • Lenin and the communist/ Red Scare

    After world war I many american were scared that the communist ways would either rub off or take control of the U.S. After russia returned from the war they began to go though a goverment change. This lead to many americans fearing they would lose their freedom thats why its also called the "Red Scare"
  • Volstead Act

    The bill was named after the "Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee,"which managed the legislation. It was vetoed by President Wilson, but that was overode by the house of reps that same day. This act was almost the exact samething as the 18th amendment.
  • Palmer Raids

    These raids were attempts by the United States Department of Justice to arrest and deport radicals, especially anarchists, from the United States and send them back to their home country. This went on from November 1919 until January 1920 under the leadership of Attorney General Mitchell Palmer. in the end of all of this over 500 foreign citizens were deported.

    This amendment one of the most popular amendments gave the right to vote this was a amendment that women have worked towards since you could vote. This did not tipically change the way votes went because most womens votes were the same as their husbands. President Wilson passed it and the next day it was barely passed by congress but the women of america did not care they could vote now.

    These two men were anarchists who were convicted of murdering two men during a 1920 armed robbery in South Braintree, Massachusetts. After a trail that split the united states in half but the two men were executed on August 23, 1927. Later it was proven that the police and Prosecutors put false evidence in front of the judge to get these two men killed and it worked.
  • Teapot Dome Affair

    It was regarded as the "greatest and most sensational scandal in the history of American politics" until water gate. Albert B. Fall leased the Teapot Dome fields which was a very large oil supplier to Harry F. Sinclair of Sinclair Oil without any biding or votes. this was frowned opon because President Taft set this land aside for the U.S navy in 1922.
  • National Origins Act

    It was a United States federal law that limited the number of immigrants who could be admitted from any country to 2% of the number of people from that country who were already living in the United States in 1890. This act even lowered the 3% cap that was already set the Immigration Restriction Act of 1921.
  • Scopes Trail

    This was an American legal case in 1925 in which a high school biology teacher John Scopes was accused of violating the state's Butler Act that made it unlawful to teach evolution. His trail was never finished, but this made the small town if Dayton Tennesse a very popular place for big named reporters trying to get the story from this teacher.     Born February 4, 1902 in the city of Detroit, Michigan he was nicked named slim, Lucky Lindy, and The Lone Eagle. He was the first man to fly across the Atlantic ocean. He started in Garden City , New York to Paris, France. It was a two day adventure.

    The Stock Market Crash of 1929 devastated the economy and was a key factor in beginning the Great Depression. The crash in stock occurred due to mass numbers of people selling their stock. As the drop in stock continued, more people started selling their stock also, giving the crash even more impact, And this lead to the people who had debut before could no longer pay it back because of the massive loss of jobs.
