    Treaty of Tordesillas
    On the seventh of June in 1494 Spain and Portugal both signed to divide South America between. The treaty split up South America into two. The left half belonging to Spain and the right belonging to Portugal. Spain benefited the most because little exploration was done and Spain received much more land than Portugal who only received part of Brazil. This also shows why Portuguese is the native language in most of Brazil.

    Martin Luther and the 95 Thesis
    In the year 1517, on the 31st of October, Martin Luther as a monk wrote 95 reasons against the selling of indulgences in the Catholic church. Luther spoke against the belief of salvation by works alone and supported the belief of salvation by faith alone. And all this helped spark the Protestant Reformation which changed religious views throughout the old world and the new.

    Jamestown, Virginia became the first permanent settlement in North America on May 13th 1607. The Europeans came to settle this particular area because of its geographical advances, which included the ports and the fact that there were not any natives. The settlement was significant because it was the foundation of What would someday become the Untied States.

    In the year 1765, the 13 colonies made the decision to resist the authority of the King of Great Britain. They would not let Great Britain tax them and this lead them to war. This was very significant because once The colonies defeated its enemy they finally became separate from England's control.

    In 1788 William Wilberforce introduced bills in Parliament to ban slave trade in England. Many were against this but Wilberforce was determined and successful. On March 25th of 1807 Slavery was abolished in England and impact Americans to do the same.

    Due to Germany sending telegrams to mexico about giving america to them and Americas allies needing support in the great war America joined the battle. The US showed exemplary skill and came out successful. But this was significant because it tied the US into Germany hate for being humiliated when defeated. It also caused America to struggle in the years of the Great Depression.

    World War II was said to have began on September 1st 1939 when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. It was the axis powers against the allied powers. This was significant because Nazis were capturing Jews and gypsies and others and putting them in concentration camps and the allied powers had to stop this.

    On December 7th of 1941 Japan bombed the US at Pearl Harbor while the US was detracted remaining neutral in the war. Many ships were destroyed as well as many ;ives were lost that day. This attack was significant because this event is what brought America into WWII.

    On August 7th of 1945 America did the unthinkable, they dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima that killed thousands and destroyed the city.This was the first threat to nuclear war and immediately silenced the battlefield. Hiroshima was so significant because America destroyed the lives of many Japanese civilians.

    After the ending of World War II a group of 51 countries formed the United Nations which was created to keep order among countries and peace.The founder that we recognize today is President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The UN is still important because it helps create international peace and secures alliances with others.
