  • Newton's Laws of Motion

    Newton's Laws of Motion
Newton's first law states that every object will remain at rest, in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force. The second law explains how the velocity of an object changes when subjected to an external force. The third law states that every action in nature has an equal and opposite reaction. Newton's laws were significant because they tie into everything we see in everyday life. https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/newton.html
  • Theory of Gravity

    Theory of Gravity
Gravity is a natural phenomenon by which all things with mass or energy are brought toward one another. Isaac Newton published his theory of gravity in 1687. Newton saw an apple falling from a tree, and it got him to thinking about the mysterious force that pulls objects to the ground.

     The Oxygen Theory of Combustion
The Oxygen Theory of Combustion was discovered by Antonine Lavoisier. He discovered the role oxygen plays in combustion. Lavoisier did not discover oxygen, but he figured out that it was the gas that combined with substances as they burned. Lavoisier paved the way for the development of modern chemistry.

  • The Atomic Theory

    The Atomic Theory
John Dalton created the atomic theory. It stated that all matter consists of atoms that are indivisible and indestructible. He recognized that all atoms of the same element are the same. He recognized that an atom is the most broken down form of an element. Daltons discovery led to further discoveries about atoms and element. Today we know specific parts of atoms, and without Dalton that would be impossible.

  • The Cell Theroy

    The Cell Theroy
Cell theory is the idea that the cell is the fundamental structural and functional unit of all living organisms and that new cells are formed from other existing cells. Although Robert Hooke was the first to recognize the cell under a microscope in 1665, the cell theory was first formulated by Mathias Jacob Schleiden and Theodor Schwann.

  • Natural Selection

    Natural Selection
Natural Selection is the differential survival and reproduction of individuals due to differences in phenotype. It is a key mechanism of evolution. For example, giraffes have look necks to reach trees because of the giraffes with longer necks lived more often since they were able to get leaves from trees. The giraffes that lived would produce offspring with similar traits. Charles Darwin created this theory in 1859
